The Making of A Health Coach

We Really Are What We Eat

My diet was awful. Bread, crackers, corn chips, + cheese were my staples...with a few bottles of Coke added in throughout the day (“but they are Mexican Coke, so it’s made with cane sugar and it’s better for me.” Nope!) A bottle or two of wine at night to “help” me sleep.....No amount of salad, green juice, or exercise could undo the damage I was doing to my body.

It is no wonder I ended up with so many health issues: chronic fatigue, adrenal fatigue Celiac, hypothyroidism, brain fog, joint and muscle aches, adult cystic acne, mood swings, extreme digestive issues…It wasn’t until years later when I finally learned that

What We Put Into Our Body Is What We Get Out Of It

I was putting crap in my body and that’s exactly what my body was turning it to. It’s like putting diesel gasoline in a Ferrarri and expecting it to run….

My journey to become a Health Coach started here. The twelve+ conventional doctors were unable to help. I was able to uncover the food and lifestyle triggers for my Autoimmune Disease and allergies (many!) and obvs, removed them from my diet. Not only have I cleaned up my diet, my health, my lifestyle, but I also found a new look on life! One that I could actually participate in without feeling like I was dragging my grumpy, tired body around all day. One that allows me to now help others who are feeling the same way I was!

AND, while cleaning up one area of my life, I ended up strengthening others (relationships, self worth, self esteem, career....I call this Primary Food).

It is absolutely amazing what some simple diet changes can do for your health and your overall enjoyment of life.

This is what I absolutely stay away from:

  1. Refined sugars

  2. Processed foods

  3. Trans fats

  4. Non-organic meats

  5. Gluten, dairy, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, oats

  6. Alcohol

  7. Genetically modified foods

  8. Foods that elicit an allergic or intolerant reaction (which is a boatload!)

#Truth- it hasn't always been easy. Some days I feel like my entire body is a science experiment when I reintroduce something back into my diet.

But cleaning up and figuring out my diet has allowed me to live again.

Life is easier to manage when you are not in chronic pain, plain and simple; when you have a clear brain to make decisions. I am able to be a better wife and mom, I have more patience with my boys, my husband, and myself. I rediscovered my energy and drive to "do something" with my life. My inspiration and creativity are flourishing and I feel connected to life again.
